Fortenbaugh, W.W.

William Fortenbaugh

William Fortenbaugh, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, in 1936. Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Professor of Classics at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

Fellow (1 September 1990 - 30 June 1991)

The most important accomplishment of my ten months at NIAS is the completion of a two volume work, entitled Theophrastus of Eresus: Sources for His Life, Writings, Thought and Influence. This is a collection of sources - Greek, Latin and Arabic texts together with English translation - for studying the Greek philosopher Theophrastus, Aristotle's pupil and successor as head of the Peripatetic School.
